Product Description

Willamette University’s head football coach tells his remarkable story in“Figure It Out: How I Learned to Live in a Digital World Without Digits.”

Despite having no hands, Mark Speckman does not let this handicap slow him down. He can still write, type, use a cell phone, drive, and play racquetball, and he played the trombone in high school. He uses these aspects of overcoming a handicap in motivational speeches around the state and country.
During his 13 years at Willamette, Coach Speckman has been involved in nine winning seasons with the Bearcats.
He is regarded in the coaching ranks as one of the foremost authorities regarding “The Fly” offense.

Now, for the first time in printed form, Speckman tells his amazing story of overcoming unbelievable odds to become one the most respected and admired figures in Willamette history.

Speckman is not only motivational on the football field, but also is a popular speaker with educational and business organizations. He has delivered numerous speeches to school boards, teachers and business groups regarding personal motivation and achieving one’s potential.
He co-wrote the book with W. Jason Niedermeyer, a Willamette graduate and a former player and assistant coach. Niedermeyer lives in Salem, where he teaches biology and English.
